Inversion Table & Inversion Therapy
Inversion tables rotate on a pivot system where a left and a right roller hinges allows the bed of the table to rotate. Tether straps allow for a pre-selected angles of inversion. Ankle clamps hold you in while inverting. Arm movement on the bed causes the bed to rotates to various up side down angles. This creates traction on the back, which is also called inversion.
There are also bent knee inversion tables where your body is supported by the back of your knees. This type of inversion puts much less stree on the ankles and knees but is more difficult to get out of. You can also only invert completely up side down.
There are also gravity boots where support of the ankles is created inside of boots. The ankle is supported inside a boot instead of having the ankle supported by ankle clamps. Gravity boots do distribute the ankle weight better, but you have to bend over everytime to put the boots on and off. Gravity boots can be purchased separately. Gravity boots can be used with bars and racks. Teeter Hang Ups also makes an inversion table that comes with the boots, called the EP 550 Sport . You can also buy a package called the Adapter Kit . This package comes with the gravity boots and a CV bar which will convert some of the Teeter inversion table model to gravity boot use. We don't recommend gravity boots for people who have back pain when they bend over, because you have to bend over each time to put them on and take them off. We recommend gravity boots for people who invert for longer periods of time and people who do inverted sit ups ... Mostly for people who are in good shape and do not have back pain for the most part.
Benefits of Inversion
Inversion is a natural form of traction that uses your own body weight and gravity to decompress weight-bearing joints. While the body is rotated and suspended, gravity ?s force applies traction, resulting in a customized stretch that elongates the spine, increasing the space between the vertebrae, which relieves the pressure on discs and nerve roots. Less pressure means less back pain. Inversion may be best known as a method to relieve back pain, but it ?s also an effective way to stretch and relax muscles, reduce stress and tension and provide healthy movement for ligaments.
* Relieve back pain
* Reduce stress
* Stimulate circulation and lymph flow
* Improve posture
* Reduce muscle tension and stress
* Strengthen ligaments
* Increase flexibility
* Increases range of movement
* Reduce the effects of aging caused by gravity
* Achieve functional fitness, a state of flexibility, strength and balance that supports youthful movement and activity.
